How To Spot a Replica Louis Vuitton Bag

2 Nov

Replicas of Louis Vuitton handbags have been in production ever since the origination of Louis Vuitton itself in 1854. There are many ways to identify replica bags, but over the years it has gotten harder and harder to distinguish between a replica and the real thing.  Louis Vuitton bags command such a high price, because they are made of the highest quality materials and are made with such careful attention to detail. Replicas have gotten so good, however, that some even have false accompanying receipts, among other things.

The first thing to look for is if Louis Vuitton actually manufactured the bag in question.  For example, Louis Vuitton manufactured many different bags in the white multicolored Murakami print, but not the ellipse backpack. This seems like it may be an obvious one, but this should be the first thing you check.  Certain bags are supposed to have certain linings. For instance, the Speedy 30 in monogram canvas should be lined in brown canvas, while the Louis Vuitton white multicolored Trouville handbag should be lined in red suede.  Sell Louis Vuitton handbag from any collection.  Most sell my Louis Vuitton handbag have date codes, and most bags of the same model have the same date code location. However, just because a sell my Louis Vuitton handbag has a date code, it does not make it authentic. Date codes dictate the location the bag was manufactured and the date it was manufactured.  Stay tuned for a future blog specifying how to tell where and when a bag was manufactured by the date code.

Some Louis Vuitton handbags are manufactured with D-rings, feet at the bottom, lock and keys, etc.  If a bag is supposed to have a D-ring and does not, it is not authentic. The stitching should be perfect. Louis Vuitton commands the prices it does, because of its extremely careful attention to detail.  The “LV”s should be perfectly symmetrical, while some bags such as the Speedy use one piece of leather (excluding the side panels), making the “LV”s on one side upside down. If you see a Louis Vuitton Speedy with “LV”s facing the same direction on both sides, it is not authentic. This should help you make informed decisions when buying and sell Louis Vuitton handbag.  More on authenticating Louis Vuitton coming soon!
